Be realistic about "no investment"
Selling a skill (teaching, design, makeup) needs almost no money up front. Selling a product needs some stock or ingredients, but you can start small: make or buy only after an order and an advance come in. What you spend most at the start is time: making a page, posting, and replying to people.
Be careful with anything that asks you to pay first to "join" a business, buy a starter kit, or recruit others. A real home business earns money from customers, not from new members.
Ideas that work from home
- Home bakery: cakes, cupcakes, brownies and cookies to order. Start with family and neighbours, take an advance for custom cakes, and post every bake.
- Home chef or tiffin service: lunch boxes for office workers and students, frozen items like samosas and kebabs, or weekend specials.
- Boutique and clothing: resell unstitched suits from wholesale markets, sell stitched clothes, or take stitching orders if you sew.
- Makeup and mehndi: party and bridal makeup, mehndi designs for weddings and Eid, with packages and advance bookings.
- Home tuition and online classes: school subjects, Quran classes, languages or exam preparation, billed monthly.
- Freelancing: graphic design, writing, video editing or social media management for local businesses, often found through your own network first.
- Handmade and small products: jewellery, candles, crochet, gift hampers and resin art, sold in small batches.
- Photography: product shoots for other small sellers, plus birthdays and small events.
Online business for ladies at home
Many home businesses in Pakistan are run by women from home: bakeries, home kitchens, boutiques, makeup, mehndi and tuition. They fit around family time, need little space, and work through WhatsApp, where buyers are comfortable dealing with a person they can message.
If privacy matters to you, you don't have to show your face or share your personal number publicly. Use a business WhatsApp number, show your products instead of yourself, and keep delivery through a courier or a trusted family member.
Online business for students
Students have time in short blocks and little money, so skill-based work fits best: tutoring younger students, design, writing, video editing, or running Instagram pages for small local shops. Reselling a small range of products to classmates and online is another common start.
Keep it simple: one service or a few products, clear prices, and a page you can share. Treat your first clients well; in Pakistan most early work comes from people who recommend you.
How to take your first orders online
- 1Pick one idea and one clear offer, for example "chocolate cakes in DHA Lahore, 2 days' notice".
- 2Make an Instagram business account and a WhatsApp number for the business.
- 3Put your products or packages with prices behind one link in your bio, so buyers don't have to ask.
- 4Post 9 to 12 good photos before you share the page, then post a few times a week.
- 5Take orders on WhatsApp, ask for an advance on custom orders, and send an invoice so the amount is clear.
- 6Ask happy buyers for a photo or a short review, and share it.
Free tools to start, and when to pay for one
You can start with free tools: an Instagram business account, a WhatsApp click-to-chat link, our free Roman Urdu caption generator for posts and hashtags, and our free invoice generator for one-off invoices in rupees.
When orders become regular, ClientoraHQ One puts four daily tools in one account: a bio-link store where buyers order on WhatsApp, WhatsApp invoices with paid and unpaid tracking, replies to "price?" comments in DMs, and an AI caption maker. One tool is Rs 299 a month; early-bird members get all four for Rs 499 a month, paid in rupees. It helps you sell and stay organised; it can't create demand on its own, so the posting and the quality of your product still matter most.
